How to Split a PDF Into Separate Files or Pages

A big PDF is usually more than anyone needs to receive. Maybe you want a single chapter, one signed page out of a contract, or to break a 200-page manual into manageable parts. Splitting lets you keep exactly the pages you want and leave the rest behind.
Splitting your file
- Open the Split PDF tool and upload the document.
- Type the page ranges you want, for example 1-3,4-6.
- Download the results. Each range comes out as its own PDF.
How the range syntax works
You decide exactly what gets pulled out using a short, comma-separated list:
- 1-3 gives you pages 1 through 3 in a single file.
- 1-3,4-6 produces two files: one with pages 1 to 3, another with pages 4 to 6.
- List as many ranges as you like. Each becomes its own PDF.
Like merging, splitting copies pages as they are, so the extracted file has the same text and image quality as the original. Nothing is re-rendered.
The reverse job
Sometimes you split a document only to recombine a few of the pieces, or to pull pages from several files and join them. Merging is the other half of that workflow.
Common questions
Can I pull out a single page?
Yes. A range like 7-7 extracts just page 7. Handy for lifting one signed or stamped page out of a longer document.
Do the pages stay in order?
Each range keeps its original page order. If you want a different sequence, split the pieces you need first, then merge them in the order you want.
